Local Surf Spots

BoB Hall Pier:
One of the most popular coastalbend surf spots. Located on Padre
island in the Padre Bali County Park. Bob Hall Pier Holds about a 4'-7'
swell. Anything bigger than that will be breaking outside the T at the end
of the pier. There is no protection from a North or South Raging current.
If you aren't in great paddling shape, don't even attempt to try to hang
next to the pier unless the swell is directly out of the EAST. Very Rare!!
Directions @ www.bobhallpier.net
or go to Mapquest
directions to Bob Hall Pier.
- Fish Pass Jetties aka Mustang Island State Park.
The "Jetties" as most surfers call them, are a pair of very
short granite rock jetties that are silted in for the most part. The
pass has been unnavagational for years. The Jetties Are a great place
to surf if the swell is from the north or south and not very big.
The rocks will protect you from having to fight the raging currents
under those circumstances. The middle can be really fun on a high
tide with an east ground swell..Very Rare again...You have to pay
to get into the park if you are entering from the Mustang Island State
Park entrance. If ya drive past the entrance toward Port Aransas and
take the first beach access road it's free, but ya have to drive on
the sand for about 2 miles or so. It's a great place for the LONG
Boarders to catch very long rides and get sucked right back out by
the jetties. The directions can be found at :MUSTANG ISLAND STATE PARK & FISHPASS JETTIES
- Horace Caldwell Pier aka The Pier House.
This Pier is an exact replica of Bob Hall Pier except located
in the coolest Lil town on the texas gulf coast, Port Aransas! The
Pier House is really a fun place to surf year round. The waves have
great form and rarely close out. They Peel for sometimes hundreds
of yards. The Pier is really protected from any north current since
the Port Aransas ship channel has jetties that are about 3 times as
long as the pier itself. Free parking at the pier too. Good food in
the Pier house and very friendly owners. for directions go to:http://www.thepierhouse.net/
- Saint Jo's aka San jose Island: Isolated
surf spot located across the Port Aransas Ship channel next to the North jetty.
There is a boat that can take you there from Woodys deep sea headquarters. More
info @ http://www.woodysonline.com/jetty.htm
- JP LUBY Surf Park :( WELL SORRY TO SAY JP IS GONE!)
There is nothing left since a private resort is being built
near the old J.P. Luby Surf Park. Thanks for the Memories!!

It used to be really a open beach hang out famous for Spring
Break. There is a make shift Pier known as JP Luby surf Pier. Nothing more than
several pairs of pilings going out into the surf past the 3rd sandbar. JP can
get real fun under the right conditions. Be aware that it's not free to park
there either. You have to buy a Beach parking permit. When you look around and
see the very clean beach you know you paid for it...I've yet to see it clean.
Oh well.
